Microsoft offers to charge for Teams to address EU antitrust concerns

Reuters exclusively reported that Microsoft is offering to charge more for its Office product when bundled with its messaging app Teams (versus Office without Teams) in an attempt to stave off an EU antitrust investigation. Microsoft was hit with more than 2.2 billion euros in EU antitrust fines in the previous decade for various antitrust infringements.

Market Impact

In the last decade, the European Commission fined Microsoft 2.2 billion euros ($2.4 billion) for practices in breach of EU competition rules, including tying or bundling two or more products together.
