Reuters was the only newswire on October 12 to report U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu was ‘hopeful’ the Senate would fast-track a U.S. climate bill – which will transform global talks to agree on a new climate treaty if Congress passes the domestic legislation before a summit in Copenhagen in December. In addition, co-author of the bill democrat Barbara Boxer was enthusiastic about rapid approval of the draft law, in contrast with high-level democratic pessimism 10 days earlier.
