Following the success of last year’s inaugural agenda-setting conference on climate change, Reuters has announced the return of Reuters IMPACT in London on October 3-4.
Powered by Reuters award-winning newsroom, it will build on last year’s summit which attracted more than 30,000 professionals from over 150 countries.
The City of London will host this year’s Reuters IMPACT event, the only forum to put climate action at the center of mainstream business discussion which will also be broadcast to a global audience. Attendees will hear from the world’s leading businesses, policymakers, scientists, innovators and activists on how organizations can drive action and accelerate innovation towards the global economy’s top priority: the climate emergency.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, will kick off this year’s event and will join an impressive line-up of climate leaders confirmed to speak, including:
- David Atkin, CEO, UN Principles for Responsible Investment
- Jesper Brodin, CEO, IKEA
- Helen Clarkson, CEO, The Climate Group
- Warren East, CEO, Rolls Royce
- Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, Environment Minister, Nigeria
- Werner Hoyer, President, European Investment Fund
- Alison Martin, CEO EMEA, Zurich
- Ivan Menezes, CEO, Diageo
- Elizabeth Mrema, Executive Secretary, UN CBD
- Sanda Ojiambo, CEO & Executive Director, UN Global Compact
- Luis Planas Puchades, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Spain
- Yoshinori Yamashita, President and CEO, Ricoh Company, Ltd.
Alessandra Galloni, Reuters Editor-in-Chief, said: “Last year, Reuters IMPACT helped professional audiences address some of the most critical issues around climate change and broke news for billions of people around the world. In October, Reuters will again convene global leaders, this time in London, and explore how businesses are delivering on climate action.”
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, said: “The climate emergency is the biggest global threat we face today and there is no time to waste. London and cities around the world are leading the way, tackling the climate emergency head on. But we can’t do it alone. Global leaders, businesses and policy makers must all play their part in the fight against climate change and Reuters IMPACT provides a leading platform to drive that action. It’s great that London has been chosen to host this important summit, recognizing the bold steps we’re taking to make our capital net-zero by 2030 and build a better, greener city for everyone.”
With a program curated by Reuters Events and with support from the Reuters newsroom, Reuters IMPACT is built upon six central, interlinked themes: Energy, Finance, Agriculture & Biodiversity, Built Environment, Supply Chains & Transportation, and Society & Justice.
Partnering with Reuters IMPACT on this critical and global movement are industry thought leaders: Ricoh, Honeywell Building Technologies, SC Johnson, Tetra Pak, Siemens, Covation Biomaterials, and STMicroelectronics.
