Last week, Reuters hosted the 2023 edition of Reuters NEXT, its definitive annual live journalism event examining the significant challenges and opportunities facing society, business and the world.  Over the packed two days of interviews and panel discussions, Reuters broke news and sparked discussions on major topics, including the latest on the Israel-Hamas conflict, Ukraine’s counter-offensive, global financial regulation and the outlook for the world economy in 2024.

Reuters NEXT 2023 brought together over 700 leaders in New York to hear from chief global policymakers, business leaders and forward thinkers, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, Central Bank of Brazil President Roberto de Oliveira Campos Neto, Santander CEO Ana Botin, France Economy & Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and many more. The complete list of speakers is available on the Reuters NEXT website.

New this year, Reuters NEXT offered attendees a more personalized experience through its multi-stage format. The World Stage anchored the leadership summit, where world leaders, CEOs and innovators joined Reuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni and Reuters correspondents for interviews and panel discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing business and society. The World Stage was also broadcast live via Reuters.com and social media platforms, drawing more than 6.4 million live session views.

Alongside the World Stage, attendees could hear from senior banking and financial executives at the Banking & Finance Stage, led by Reuters Global Banking and Markets Editor Paritosh Bansal and U.S. Finance Editor Lananh Nguyen, who discussed the future of the industry at one of the most critical times in its history. Reuters Global Technology Editor Ken Li hosted a stellar line-up of tech experts and innovators at the Disruption Stage to explore AI as the salient disruptive technology of today. Throughout the summit at The Studio, Reuters and guests took a deeper dive into the most buzzworthy social trends and developments and what these issues mean for business and policymakers.

Reuters also hosted a series of invite-only sideline briefings, including the General Counsel Briefings on M&A strategy, ethical AI, litigation and ESG for legal professionals, as well as Reuters Breakingviews Executive Briefings hosted by Reuters Breakingviews U.S. Editor Lauren Silva Laughlin for industry CEOs on trends and predictions that will shape the year ahead.

Reuters coverage of keynote interviews, including 160 snaps, 59 text stories and scores of TV stories, were widely used by 189 Reuters News Agency clients in 49 countries. Stories published on Reuters.com generated more than 60,000 views, and Reuters NEXT content on Reuters social handles earned 13.1 million impressions.
