Reuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni and Executive Editor Simon Robinson shared the below note to staff today, announcing the appointment of Jennifer Hicks as Digital Director:
Dear All,
We are thrilled to announce that Jennifer Hicks will join us as the newsroom’s new Digital Director, shaping the long-term editorial direction of our digital platforms as a key member of the newsroom’s senior leadership team.
She will guide Reuters.com, the Reuters app and our newsletters and social offerings, and will sharpen our audience engagement strategy and accelerate the growth of our subscription business, while ensuring our digital reporting reflects the trust and authority that define Reuters journalism.
Jennifer brings more than two decades of newsroom leadership at the Wall Street Journal, where she drove digital growth and innovation in a range of senior roles. She established the Journal’s digital operations in London, ran the New York news hub, led the first newsroom product team as a deputy managing editor on the masthead and oversaw digital platforms, partnerships and audience development operations. At Reuters, she will work closely with our commercial, product and development teams to bring our world-class journalism to more people around the globe and deepen engagement with paying subscribers.
Jennifer is a native of Norman, Oklahoma, and got her start at the student newspaper at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She has a master’s in journalism from Columbia University.
Jennifer will join us on September 15 and will work from the New York office, reporting to Simon.
Please join us in congratulating Jennifer.
Alessandra and Simon
