Over the past two weeks, a Reuters team was on the ground in Dubai to provide wide-ranging coverage of the latest U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP28), providing users and customers with fast and reliable news on the climate talks.
Reuters editorial teams delivered comprehensive coverage over the two-week summit, reporting on all angles of the event with speed and accuracy. A collaborative effort among text, pictures and video journalists led to coverage wins in spot news, agenda-setting features and interviews, including leading climate change voices Al Gore and Bill Gates, and more. Reuters exclusive coverage throughout the conference included reporting on top development banks launching debt-for-nature swap task force and vowing to step up their climate efforts and how some of the world’s largest charities are joining forces with the World Bank’s IFC in a climate financing venture. A dedicated section on Reuters.com delivered all the latest news to users, including special editions of the Reuters World News podcast and the Sustainable Switch newsletter.
Separately, Reuters Events collaborated with Reuters Plus, the branded content studio of Reuters, to produce “On the Ground at COP28 UAE”, engaging government, NGO, and global business decision-makers and policy-makers at the Reuters Events Studio at COP. Leaders from AstraZeneca, BMW, EY, Novo Nordisk, SAP, Tencent and others stepped into the studio for “In the Conversation with…” discussions on how their companies are addressing the climate crisis. Reuters Events also hosted panel discussions on topics such as the climate crisis and the impact on lung health and using the ISO Net Zero Guidelines in a company’s net zero journey.
The Reuters Plus team produced more than 60 videos from the Blue and Green Zones at Expo City during the first week of the conference, roving the COP28 summit and at the on-site Reuters Events Studio, including interviews for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Zayed Sustainability Prize and Masdar RidetoCOP.
All these discussions can be viewed on the dedicated “On the Ground at COP28 UAE” site.
