Reuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni shared the following message with Reuters colleagues today about the appointment of Jo Webster as Global Managing Editor, Visuals:

Dear colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that Jo Webster has been appointed Global Managing Editor, Visuals, with effect from January 1, 2024. Jo is currently Deputy Global Editor for Visuals at Reuters and, since January, has been interim Global Managing Editor, Visuals.

Jo will be responsible for creating and executing strategy for our award-winning video and pictures team, driving value for Reuters media customers and consumers. She will lead a team of more than 500, plus freelancers, around the world.

Jo brings deep expertise to this role: prior to her interim position, she was Managing Editor for Strategy and Operations in EMEA, responsible for multimedia coverage, speed, editorial staff security, training, budgets, strategic workforce planning and diversity. Jo joined Reuters in 2009 as a senior producer for Insider Financial TV. In 2015, she launched Reuters TV - a flagship consumer TV offering designed to showcase Reuters journalism and geographical reach on digital platforms.

Jo started her career working for financial and technology trade magazines, before spending five years as a producer and on-screen reporter for CNBC Television. Jo has also produced other major broadcasts, including 'Davos Today' for the World Economic Forum.

Anyone who has worked with Jo knows that she is passionate and disciplined about getting things done; I am looking forward to working with her on strengthening our formidable visuals team even further.

Please join me in congratulating Jo on her promotion.

Alessandra
