Reuters gained industry recognition for its quality journalism with multiple recent award recognitions in the Scripps Howards Awards, Society of Environmental Journalists Awards, Foreign Press Association Media Awards, British Journalism Awards and LA Press Club Awards contests.

In the 2024 Scripps Howard Awards, which recognize high-impact reporting in the U.S., 'The Bat Lands' won the top prize in the Excellence in Multimedia Journalism category. The judges said the report was "a testament to how great reporting and multimedia delivery can make a story more accessible and interesting to readers."

The report also won the Society of Environmental Journalists Awards' Kevin Carmody Award for Outstanding Investigative Reporting. Additionally, the project is also eligible for the prestigious Nina Mason Pulliam Award, which will be selected from the first-place winners of SEJ's awards in January.

In addition, 'The Bat Lands' was named a finalist for a Science in Society Award in the Series category, presented by the National Association of Science Writers.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning series 'The Musk Industrial Complex' was also named a finalist for a Scripps Howard Award, in the National/ International Investigative Reporting category.

Reuters recently won eight awards from the LA Press Club. In the Multimedia Package category, Reuters took first place for '100 Years of Disney' and second place for 'It's Mariah Time.' The Disney graphic also took third place in the Illustration category and second place in the Animation category. Reuters swept the Best Graphic category, with first place going to 'The Unstoppable Pop of Taylor Swift,' second place to 'It's Mariah Time,' and third place to 'Candidate track record.' 'It's Mariah Time' also won second place in the Commentary/Trend Music category.

In the British Journalism Awards contest, Reuters photojournalist Hannah McKay was a finalist in the Photojournalism category for her image of Britain's King Charles at the State Opening of Parliament. Tom Bergin was a finalist in the Business, Finance, and Economics Journalism category, for his investigation that revealed European gambling companies still using features in America that were dropped in Britain following an acknowledgment of the risks to gamblers.

In the Guardian's Agency Photographers of 2024 list, three Reuters photojournalists were featured. Hannah McKay was named for her coverage of UK news and politics, as well as international stories such as the Paris Olympics, the conflict in the Middle East, and the US election. Susana Vera was recognized for her coverage of the Pamplona festival and extreme weather, including flooding in Valencia and late summer wildfires in Portugal. Anushree Fadnavis' coverage of Indian news and politics, including the election, and the Paris Olympics was also recognized.

Lastly, the Reuters investigation 'Hunted by Hamas,' which reconstructed the life-and-death struggle at Kibbutz Be'eri, a main target in the October 7 Hamas assault, was shortlisted for a Foreign Press Association Media Award in the Print & Web News Story of the Year category.

This rounds out a successful year for journalism awards at Reuters, adding to two Pulitzer Prizes, two World Press Photo Awards, two Royal Television Society Awards, four Overseas Press Club Awards and many more recognitions.
