Jane Barrett named Head of Reuters AI Strategy

Reuters Head of Operations and Strategy Matthew Keen shared the following message with Reuters colleagues today about the appointment of Jane Barrett as Head of Reuters AI Strategy:

Dear Colleagues,

Generative AI is transforming our industry and will accelerate our growth strategy, allowing us to do more and better for our clients. As we sharpen our AI focus, I am delighted to announce that Jane Barrett has been appointed Head of Reuters AI Strategy, effective today, July 1, 2024. She will report to me. In her new role, Jane will define the strategy for AI adoption across the organization and lead the execution of AI initiatives across Reuters, working closely with Reuters Executive leaders and their respective functional teams.

Jane will be responsible for setting the strategy and overall plan for AI initiatives that enhance our content production, distribution, and personalization. Jane will chair a cross-functional committee that will define and execute our AI strategy for the benefit of our customers. She will share more details of the governance structure in the coming weeks. Jane will join my Strategy and Operations leadership team. She will also continue to work closely with editorial leadership on the AI newsroom POCs.

I am thrilled that Jane has accepted this position. She brings to the role 25 years of experience, and few know the Reuters newsroom or the standards our clients expect from us better than her. Her experience will be hugely beneficial in the development of our client AI offerings.
