IP Delivery for Live Content
Content distribution you can trust
High quality fast transmission you can trust
As the industry moves from satellite to IP-based delivery, we are expanding the tools and technologies that ensure you continue receiving live content quickly, securely and at broadcast quality.
Shift to IP
Reuters is migrating from satellite to a cloud‑managed, IP‑based live news distribution model. While satellite is reliable and global, it is vulnerable to weather and limited by fixed bandwidth. Reuters’ new cloud‑managed IP infrastructure, addresses four core challenges:v
Signal Quality
The new IP platform delivers higher audio and video stream quality: more consistent, secure, and reliable across all conditions and regions, while reducing cost.
Built-in Redundancy and Disaster Recovery
The cloud infrastructure provides geographically distributed redundancy and automated failover to safeguard continuity. Because the platform is cloud‑based, these protections are available on demand at no additional cost.
Operational Flexibility
IP distribution is software‑defined and can be reconfigured dynamically. As we move to the next phase, Reuters aims to scale signals in real time and integrate new workflows without physical infrastructure changes.
Reduced Complexity and Cost
This migration is projected to reduce total cost of ownership while simplifying day-to-day operations.
Why it matters
The result is a more resilient and sustainable model that strengthens the quality and consistency of Reuters’ live news offering worldwide. All supporting faster editorial turnarounds and keeping your coverage current when moments matter.
"Our responsibility is to preserve the reliability our customers depend on while improving the quality and consistency of our live distribution signals worldwide. This migration enables us to strengthen both while supporting our long-term distribution strategy."
— Joseph Delshadian, Director of Content Distribution at Reuters
