Reuters has launched a new way for editors, technology and AI teams to access trusted journalism directly inside AI tools and editorial workflows. It's called the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, and it solves a problem that's been growing as newsrooms invest in AI.
Traditional APIs were built for software developers integrating Reuters content into websites. But modern newsrooms work differently now. AI agents need to search and retrieve content through natural language, find related photos and video in the same request, and do it all without switching systems or navigating complex interfaces.
Reuters MCP bridges that gap. Instead of building custom data pipelines or learning metadata schemas, your teams simply ask their AI assistant: "Find recent text/photos/video of the breaking story in Iran that I can embed in my article." The AI returns relevant Reuters assets with rights information attached, all without you leaving your production environment.

MCP launches with search and retrieval across Reuters text, photos and video.
